Bel | Sweet 16

We went to eat Mexican before this shoot & if that’s not goals, then I don’t know what is.

Taken on a very hot day in July, the beautiful Bel came down from Raleigh, NC for some “Sweet 16” portraits. Bel worked with our amazing artist Colleen Gagnon to create her makeup look. It is always interesting to see what the style is in a different city. I think it was absolutely reflected in the way they brought her makeup look together. Choosing to focus on a more demure eye & minimal makeup look was actually more of a challenge than Colleen & I initially thought. Most of my seniors come in wanting a huge smokey eye, false eyelashes, heavy contour – basically the works. While there is nothing wrong with that, it was definitely a welcome change from the usual.

After having a fabulous time at the incredible Terrame, we walked outside & I realized the sun was still really high – on top of it being about 102 degrees. I called a time-out & after a quick chat with Bel’s mom we ran down to the road to a Huntsville institution; Little Rosies.

All About the Styling:

Since Bel chose the “Couture Session” she was able to have a fashion consultation with yours truly before her sesh. I brought several retro vintage looks for her to try & while she looked AMAZING we agreed that it wasn’t really her style.

For her first & second look, we did an outfit pulled together from the clothes she brought. When pulling her third look, I asked her to trust me & she was completely game. Bel let me style her in this fun black jumper & oversized white t-shirt underneath paired with some cute All Star converse. I ended up stretching the white shirt out so it fell over one sholder & then personally styled her hair in messy bun on the side of her head. Her mom at first was unsure, but it ended up being BOTH of their favorite looks! Another reason why the “Couture Session” is really the best option for people who want a more exclusive portrait experience.
